60 Minute Session
Take an hour to rejuvinate and relax those muscles. Try it - you might have to upgrade to 90 minutes - it's just that good!
HOW TO START
Not sure what the right type of massage you might need? Check out the descriptions on the treatment page to get some ideas. See if they answer any questions you might have or possibly raise new ones. During the first session we will determine together the best methodology to treat your problem areas.
Part of my approach when I work is to educate the public. There is a great difference between "Deep Tissue", "A Firm Massage" and "Specific" massage. Clarity in communicating your needs with the therapist is VERY important in client satisfaction. This can be the difference between getting that relaxing, yet FIRM massage and focusing on a problem area which can cause you to feel sore the next day or two in order to fix a problem area.
BENEFITS OF MASSAGE
Massage is generally considered part of complementary and integrative medicine. It's increasingly being offered along with standard treatment for a wide range of medical conditions and situations. Studies of the benefits of massage demonstrate that it is an effective treatment for reducing stress, pain and muscle tension. While more research is needed to confirm the benefits of massage, some studies have found massage may also be helpful for:
- Digestive disorders
- Insomnia related to stress
- Myofascial pain syndrome
- Soft tissue strains or injuries
- Sports injuries
- Temporomandibular joint pain
Beyond the benefits for specific conditions or diseases, some people enjoy massage because it often produces feelings of caring, comfort and connection.
Despite its benefits, massage isn't meant as a replacement for regular medical care. Let your doctor know you're trying massage and be sure to follow any standard treatment plans you have.
